Growing More than You Can Chew

These are great tips! There's nothing worse than having a monster garden that you don't know where to begin with. I'm going to try to keep it manageable this year and see where it goes.

Alsowe have the go ahead for the community garden in eastern Summerside, and have our first committee meeting tonight! So I'm extremely excited about this new project and can't wait to see what develops (and of course, what is grown!).

Thought! Looking to help enhance the overarching look for my existing blog. Thoughts concerning the overall style at http://conserveourwater.ca? Truly a good water conservation group when looking within the whole Ontario vicinity. Write a comment. Thanks!

  • Inspired Farmerssays: April 4, 2012 at 10:54 amThat is great news about the community garden in Summerside. We are still waiting on confirmation for a site for our demonstration garden in Charlottetown, but have our fingers crossed and are planning on having a volunteer meeting next week for those interested. Keep us posted on on the development of the community garden in Summerside! Mitch
  • Mo Duffy Cobbsays:April 8, 2012 at 9:47 amI can totally relate to this! I live on PEI, and my father is the oldest of twelve siblings. We always joke with him that he still plants lie his father who farmed in Kinkora. His gardens have always been gigantic, to the point where he needed a special garden for corn, one for berries and another for his beans, beets and carrot, lettuces, snow peas, onions and much more!Having a large garden has inspired me to get more creative in the pickling process, but it can be overwhelming midsummer when the visitors begin to come and the garden gets neglected.

We are trying to plan more in container gardens this year hoping to meet our own small family's needs and keep up the maintenance schedule without feeling overwhelmed!
